Star-Studded Homemade Marshmallow!

We've probably all seen the beautiful snowflake shaped homemade marshmallows from Martha Stewart and we were beyond thrilled to try it.

What can be better than warming up to a hot cup of cocoa on a chilly night topped with these cool homemade marshmallows!

Marshmallows are the perfect addition to your hot chocolate, and there is nothing better than a homemade hot chocolate to warm you up and so here we go and decided to give it a shot!


Make your next cup of cocoa cooler than ever with a sweet marshmallow star garnish. This is the perfect winter drink to cozy up with on a cold winter day!


These cool and elegant looking with delicious flavor will definitely impress your family and friends at your Christmas party!



You'll need:

2 teaspoon powdered gelatin

1 1/2 cups sugar

2/3 cup light corn syrup

1/8 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Vegetable-oil cooking spray

Cookie cutters (*any preferred shape you like)












Directions:

  1. Add gelatine and water in mixer bowl and set aside for 4 to 6 minutes.

  2. Coat a 8-inch rectangular pan with cooking spray.

  3. Add the sugar, corn syrup, salt and water in a saucepan and bring to boil.

  4. Cook until the mixture reaches 250 F degrees on a candy thermometer or approx. 5 to 8 mins.

  5. Remove from heat and add vanilla extract.

  6. With the mixer on low speed, gradually add in sugar mixture into the gelatine mixture.

  7. Increase speed and whisk for about 12 minutes until the mixture is white and thick or triple in volume.

  8. Pour the marshmallow mixture into the prepared tin pan

  9. Set aside in room temperature till firm for about 4 hours or overnight.

  10. Coat Star cookie cutters with cooking spray and cut out shapes.

  11. Serve marshmallow immediately or store in air tight container up to 1 week.

Notes: Before cutting the marshmallow, dip the cookie cutters in hot water and wipe dry or coat with some oil to prevent it from sticking to the cutter.


Float these star-shaped marshmallows in cups of hot chocolate. It’s the perfect beverage for warming up after sledding on a cold winter’s day.




You can make these into any shape you like or in any festive theme like; snowflake, stars, bell, and add sprinkles or chocolate chips for a little something extra.
